What kind of degree can I gain entry and/or credit to when I graduate, if I choose?
Bachelor of Human Resource Management is the most common articulation into university. Speak to one of our student advisors to learn which universities we have articulation agreements with.
Why do people study at ABA?
We have interviewed and surveyed our students extensively to understand why they chose us and what they are getting from studying here. The top four reasons are:
- They get into the workforce quicker. Our courses take 6-18 months, rather than 1-3 years with other providers (including TAFEs and universities).
- Our courses are tailored to industry requirements. We consult regularly with industry to ensure our graduates will have skills that are up-to-date when they graduate.
- We help them get a job. Rather than just giving them a qualification and wishing them luck, we work with each student to help them get a job when they finish. Last year 100% of our students got a job or entry into university within 12 weeks of graduating.
- Flexible payment options. We are one of the few providers nationally who can offer VET FEE-HELP which is a loan from the government to pay your course tuition fees. This means no up-front payments and you don't start paying it back until your taxable income reaches a certain threshold. We also offer, for those students who choose or who aren't eligible for VET FEE-HELP, fortnightly installments and up-front payments.
Why choose to do Human Resources Management with ABA as opposed to going with another provider?
Students come to us because:
- We have smaller classes. We have maximum class sizes of 16 and offer one-on-one support with our Learning Facilitators. This means if you need help with exam preparation or assignments, you will get it.
- We focus on current industry requirements. OH&S laws and guidelines in Australia are forever changing and you need to know that your skills and knowledge will be up-to-date when you graduate. Our Learning Facilitators still work in the industry and their knowledge is current.
- You have an interview with the Learning Facilitator running your course before you start. We do this so they know your history and experience with course content and can adjust their teaching style for you accordingly. It also helps you feel more comfortable on your first day.
- We're focused on helping you get a job or get entry to university after graduation. This means we care whether you pass or fail and do everything possible to see you succeed. In short, we care about your learning experience.
- We provide leverage if you want to go onto university. If you've already started a job in the human resources industry when you graduate then your uni studies will become tax deductible (check with your accountant). You'll be way ahead, in terms of study habits and learning strategies, of a typical Year 12 school-leaver so you'll find university much easier and are less likely to drop out.
What is unique about Human Resources Management as opposed to other career options?
- Greater understanding of people and management. You will have a better understanding of people, how they relate to each other and to business structures and policies. You will solve people-related problems for businesses.
- You will be working in a people-oriented industry. If you like working with people, this is a good field for you.
- HR is relevant and critical in all industries. You can work in a number of different industries and in all kinds of businesses, constantly evolving your career
- You get whole-of-business perspective. You will be involved with people in all parts of the business so you'll gain broader business knowledge and acumen over time.
- Variation. You will do many different things - from recruiting, conflict resolution, training, strategy, OH&S law to negotiating. You'll never get bored!
What are the delivery options?
- Part-time - this is usually 6 hours per week, completed over two nights. This means you can work full-time whilst studying.
